Is going from Logitch X-530 to Z-5500 speakers a worthy upgrade?

I was wondering if it was worth getting the Z-5500 from my X-530. I will give my old set to my parents since its not worth more than $35 on ebay (you can get them for $45 on Newegg). I have looked at the Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1, and since they are both in the same price range, I really need to go to Fry's or something to try them both in person. Anyways, thanks in advance :)

I considered the same upgrade several months back. I came to the conclusion that I was happy enough with my X-530's not to feel like I had to (or wanted to) drop $250 on the Z-5500's. Obviously it'll be personal preference though; are you happy with the speakers you have now or not?

I got the klipsch 5.1's for Christmas and my hearing capabilities have gone down considerably since then. On the other hand, the ringing in my ears has gone up! (I'm not sure if that's a good thing) Moral of the story: They rock! They are so crisp even at full volume. The bass is unreal, my whole house vibrates. They are definitely worth the extra money.

If you're looking for a considerable jump in performance, z-5500s or higher would be where to go.

Thanks for the replies :)

Im mostly into Rap, but im not the biggest on bass (Im into many other genres too). I never liked how the X-530's Subwoofer cause the bass would be so sensitive (like id hear/feel bass 10x more than other speakers). I would value speakers that would make the clarity of instruments (mid to high range mostly), than the bass and percussion. I like my X-530, but since im going to have to get my parents some speakers anyways, I thought its time for some better speakers. Im huge on audio. My 160GB Hard Drive is filled with approx 30,000 tracks (some is in lossless format for my iPod) even.

FWIW, I have the original ProMedia 5.1 and it's still sounds amazing after 3 years of abuse. I haven't heard the new Ultra version, or the Z-5500. But, what I do know is the Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 has great high's and mid's, and the bass is excellent; very deep, tight, and clean sounding.

Going from the X-530 to the Z-5500 or ProMedia 5.1 is like going from night to day. I don't think you can go wrong with either system.

Seeing as I own a set of Klipsch speakers and Logitech speakers, I'd recommend Klipsch.

Are Klipsch products sold in everyday computer stores like Best Buy, CompUSA, Fry's, etc? Cause Chances are the Logitech Z-5500 (or at least the 2.1 version) are on display at one of the stores I go to. I really gotta try them out personally to make my decision between the two IMO.

Yes, they are. I've seen the Klipsch 5.1 Ultra's at Best Buy before - that obviously won't be the best listening/testing environment, but it'll give you a chance to play with them a little at least.

If you're really huge on audio, you don't have to stop with computer speakers.

Is music what you usually listen to, or do you do games/movies too a lot? If you are primarily listening to music, you could invest in a better 2.0/2.1 setup that would be better for music than a 5.1 set for the same price.
