It would be more fun if you mixed them up so there was a surprise factor. Candy, poop, money, spiders, anthrax... would all be great bag ingredients.

You know you can't say the A word without drawing the attention of the NSA like the eye of Sauron, right?

Not all of us live in a little suburban paradise. Trunk or treating is the only way some of these rural kids can do anything like this. You disgusting city dweller.

Walk like I did you lazy bastich...

Or get your parent to drive you...and remain lazy...

HA! Exactly.

Another trend starting in my area..."Trunk or Treat".

It's where people in a neighborhood go to a parking lot, open the trunks of their car, stand by them and you just walk around "trunk or treating" for candy.

Halloween is dead.

Yes...

When I saw this starting up in my area, it was disappointing. It's just not halloween at all. Why not just meet at Wal-mart and buy each other candy?

There aren't really any bad neighborhoods and distances aren't far between houses.

That was a few years ago and I haven't done halloween since.

It's dead, Jim.

That's what seemed so sad about it. Like just doing something to say you're trick or treating. Just trading candy from car to car, all in one spot.

In a parking lot.

Now that's BULLSHIT!

Trunk or treating has nothing to do with lazyness. Trunk or treating was invented by paranoid overprotective parents who didn't want their kids taking candy from strangers. It's not about reducing walking or minimizing hassle, it's about controlling the people who participate. Limiting it to a specific school or organization or social group will, at least in theory, weed out the dangerous weirdos.

It reminds me of something you'd do post apocalyptic, or a group quarantined families in a military controlled camp or something would do to try to make a holiday normal to their kids, the best way they could.

Trust me, it's the bomb when you have really little kids. They can visit a bunch of trunks before they run out of energy. It's also easier to manage them in a closed environment, especially if they start crying or nuke their diaper and you have to run to your car quickly.

For older, kids it's pretty lame :p

From a parents perspective, I can see the convenience angle.

I just think of my memories of trick or treating as a little kid, and this concept is kind of depressing. But if they don't know any differently, I'm sure they enjoy it.

You can't call current kids lazy and then tell us your parents drove you around! The kids near here don't have homes due to the fires and this is the only way they get to see old neighbors.

So whine more you elitest pig fucker!...just be sure to get a ride from your parents first.

Halloween in my neighborhood is extremely busy, we get van loads of people showing up from other areas to trick or treat. I found it a little annoying that people would do that at first, but got over it. It's kinda fun giving away hundreds of pieces of candy (I think 800+ last year) to kids. Typically I can't go a minute without the next kid or group of kids ringing the doorbell between 6 and 8 or 9.

California (Orange County) was the exact opposite. We'd buy a little candy and be surprised if anyone showed up.

Was expecting a thread about sluggish LCD pixels, or signal problems on an old CRT TV.

The only ghosting I have heard of is in a video game using voice chat or text to tell other people where their enemies are.
