That would mean he would have to revamp the originals all over again -- without the special edition stuff. That isn't cost effective.

There have already been laser disk transfers, it wouldn't be as big a deal as you say. And he'd more than make any outlay back plus some, that's pretty much assured.

I'm not so sure he kept digitally remastered version that are "pre-special-edition" edited. In fact, I highly doubt it.

I bet you he does...I have ATOC and they show them making the movies and they kept EVERYTHING...each day got its own "bin" of stuff...

And I think it just doesn't make sense....Why would you want to take out the extra features - wasn't that the selling point of the Special Editions? Seems kinda counter productive to me

To me that was the most irritating change done to the film. Gawd damn, who would hire a bounty hunter who can't even hit someone at almost point blank range. Also you'll notice that in the original Han Solo shot from under the table. You don't see his arm/hand when he fired. Why he had to pull his arm to the side of the table in plain view is beyond me.

This is what i've been saying for a couple of years now!

However there will probably be a year or two between releasing all the box sets, to get the fans slobbering waiting for them!!

I would never buy both box sets. Not for the bookend OR the mug with the special edition. First season rocked, but the special one was really cool as I'd already seen the originals a bazillion times. I would only buy the 2nd edition. If it had a really cool mug.

I dunno if I can buy the "kidified" version of Episodes 4, 5, and 6.

DVDs are so robust that there should be just an "extended version" option in the menu. That would be too nice, though.

It's not so much as removing the extra cool stuff --cuz that's what it was. Very cool. :) It's more that I want to see the original, without extra scenes, just like it was in the theaters the first day, for collector's sake.

Crazy? Just crazy for moola.

Stupid? I'd say no. He can re-release his work years later by "re-mastering" it and all you followers will see it multiple times, buy his toys, and buy his DVDs. He gets richer with minimal work ... I'd say that's pure genius.
