Yes it can be. Just like food and masturbation.

Instant gratification = awesome.

If you feel you want to run away from your life and only feel happy in ****** (fill addiction here like for example gaming) , then that can turn into an addiction. For it is this that gives you pleasure. Better ask yourself, why does everyday life not give you pleasure and what can you do about it. It is not the gaming that is at fault. The gaming is just a means to escape what you do not like and haunts you. That is the real crux.

Doing a lot of gaming is not necessarily an addiction. When it is a means to escape reality for a short while, i do not see any issue. When the game has an unraveling exciting plot, it is nothing wrong when you desire to play the game because you want to know how it ends.

I'm not addicted to WoW, I can quit whenever I want.

I just don't want to. :colbert:

Yep. It's only really a problem when you are gaming while eating with one hand and whacking off with the other. That's when you have a problem.

Apparently: "yes, for you."

Almost anything can be an addiction to some people. Collecting (whatever), watching (something), playing (a sport), eating or drinking (something), using (some drug), acquiring 100 cats to keep you company, hoarding, doing the same thing we do every night Pinky . . .

My colleague. He enjoys WoW too very much. But it is not as if it is the only thing he does. But when there is time, it certainly is WoW time. If WoW had halo (pc) like warthogs, i would definitely play too.

Of course it is/can be

Now, that takes some skill.

Do you have a pamphlet?

That appears to be a YouTube video, ergo, I am not watching it. If you'd like to post a transcript, I may read it. But yes, as others have said, it's possible to become addicted to a wide range of things.

...the problem being that you've only got two hands, right?

Well, it is at least problematic. Proper technique requires a lot of speed shifting. You just have to remember what hand has been doing what.

It is for some people. Heck, I know a guy who is addicted to Pepsi. Literally. Has ulcers & rotting teeth from it & has his stomach pumped a couple of times a year because he doesn't have any self-control around it at parties. Same thing with video games. But I also know people who play 6 hours a day & are still functioning members of society...they meet their responsibilities, they come to work & do their job every day, they keep up with their personal hygiene...so maybe that's more of a hardcore enthusiast. Same thing with hoarders vs. collectors...it's a fine line, but it's usually easy to tell when someone has a massive collection (it's clean, it's organized, and they want to show it off) vs. someone who hoards.

Not to be condescending, but behavioral addiction is possible with...any behavior.
