Never had a tablet before, thinking it might be fun.

In today's 8" market, it's a really good tablet for the price. Main downside is touchwiz, which doesn't bother me personally all that much. I'm considering picking one up as a replacement for my, now dead, Nexus 7 (2013).

After only a year and a half the price is cut in half. It is better than the ipad mini in pretty much every measurable way. But because it doesnt have a picture of a fruit on the back, we get to buy it at a lower price! Yay. This is an excellent $200 tablet.

Only question mark is that Samsung has a spotty record with updating their tablet lines. If that doesn't matter to you, then purchase away. Unless of course if you want an AMOLED screen, then get the Tab S.

I actually prefer the screen on the Pro Vs the S. The S is kinda fake looking. I have the pro and when was purchasing, both the S and Pro were roughly the same price. But I preferred the Pro. 200 buck is a very good deal. And lollipop should be hitting the Pro line in a few weeks. 5.1.1 I believe.

Ok, sounds good. So they are pretty much always this price now?

No more android updates for it? Seems odd, but reasonable. That can be manually updated can't it? Not that I would really need it, not a power user. Plan to use it for email, netflix, and talkin to you guys.

There is a lot of talk of it getting a update finally this quarter... but it is Samsung, so nothing is for sure. Can always use CM to get lollipop tho worst case.

Check here: http://samsung.youmobile.org/

That site has been pretty much on the money.
