Is Fujitsu LifeBook S2110 good for now a days application"s

I am getting a lappy from collage to complete a programming project. I get to choose from either a Fujitsu LifeBook S2110 which is 2-3 years old or a netbook from the hundreds collage just bought.

But if i take the extra weight of the S2110 over the weight of the netbook. I mean 1080p playback or something that a netbook cant do otherwise the S2110 would be a waste.

The Laptop will be unable to do HD playback. Like the Netbook it doesn't have a good enough video card to handle the encoding and the CPU just isn't able to take up the slack.
