Hey, anyone have any good/bad experiences returning stuff at frys?

I totally forgot I had to return this video card heatsink that was missing parts when I bought it. The 30 day return window passed 4 days ago. Think they would make an exception since its only a few days late and the product was missing parts? My local frys is 30 mins away so I dont want to drive there only to get denied. Thanks

How much are we talking about?

Call and ask. If it's a pricey item, it might be worthwhile to drive down and try anyways.

it's hit or miss. if you call they'll say "you'll have to come in and ask the person in charge."

you may be able to get store credit. if you're lucky you'll get your money back.

just buy the same card again...return the old card with your new receipt. you now have working card with no missing parts and got a refund for the first card...problem solved.

They have never given me much grief. They will likely need to get a manager to override the system, but it's likely that they will return it.

I had to return something once like a week after the 30 days and they just gave me store credit.

I am confused about the MOD comment about condoning theft in my post ...

Not sure why theft even came up??? I simply suggested that the OP BUY the exact same video card. He can then RETURN the card with the missing parts with the new receipt.

If the company had not sold him a video card with missing parts, none of this would have been necessary.

Did you not read the OP or my post???

the item is not broken...it was missing some parts...

hence my comment "If the company had not sold him a video card with missing parts, none of this would have been necessary."

If the OP broke it, I would not have made that suggestion...

Yeah, while normally I would say that this is theft and fraud, if the original purchase was missing parts, this seems justified.

I got a 1 week vacation for saying something like that a few months ago.

Anyways, took the part in - they gave me store credit instead of refunding my money. Initially, the Persian customer service rep with her heavy accent kept accusing me of damaging the product and wouldn't return it, but one of her supervisors overrided it. Ended up using the store credit to buy a replacement battery for my ipod. Damn, those batteries are expensive there.

The guy had 30 days to return it. 30 days is a more than reasonable return window. You snooze you lose.
