Discussion Is file encryption an important part of security?

Hey guys. Lately I've been concerned about the security of the files on my laptop. I have it protected with a password but sometimes I feel like that would not be enough if someone gained physical access to my device. I've heard about file encryption but I wanted to get some opinions first. Right now I'm on the fence between Cryptomator, NordLocker and Boxcryptor. All of them can be used for free so I guess it doesn't matter a lot but I'm still curious about your feedback.
