loaded up F@H and it only fully utilizes one fore on my Q6600. task manager also shows that it is locked at 25 (doesn't go up or down) on the CPU usage column.

was wondering how i can get it to run on more than 1 core

lol you need to unlock the cpu usage on it.

This really should go in the Distributing Computing section.

But anyhow PM Markfw900. He'll most likely lend you a walkthough in setting it up correctly. He's probably anandtech's backbone in DC computing.

Basic folding at home is only singlethreaded. YOu would have to run 4 instances of it configured as 4 unique machine IDs...however there is a beta SMP one that I run that folds on all 4 cores.....should be able to at those speeds if you run 2 instances to get +4000ppd....

It seems to like high fsb so near 1600fsb will do great...

I saw your post there. You'll get much more informed responses there. Might just take a bit longer for ppl to reply.

I'd help, but I'm not folding. I'm running DPAD. ;)

whats SMP stand for? and is 5.91 beta the version i'm supposed to be using?

SMP is "symetrical mutli processing" (forgive the spelling)

AS IN USES ALL 4 CORES. Install it, set a windows password, make sure you have .net 2.0 installed, then run the instal.bat.

Then run the exe, config, and you are done.

just kind of got F@H SMP running, the console (dos) version.

but i see that its giving me the error:

[xx:xx:xx] CoreStatus = 63 <99>
[xx:xx:xx] Error starting Folding@Home core.

then it loops over and downloads something and gives me the same error over and over (at least 5 times already)

if i shouldn't post this here i'll bring it over to DC, but i dont think i will get much help there...

read my instructions above... Must have a windows password, must have .net 2.0 installed, re-boot, and run install.bat.

A question for folks who heavily contribute to F@H project: Doesn't PS3 trounce multi-core X86 in WU calculation? I would think one PS3 could give you a score of like 5 dual-core systems? (Just guessing here, but I've read the PS3 is enormously capable of F@H)

Ok I'm successfully folding on all 4 cores now. How can I limit FAH to 1,2, or 3 cores if I dont want 100% CPU usage?
