Is ecollegepc.com a good place to get pre-builts?

I've heard they're somewhat good for prebuilts, but would you recommend me ordering off this site?

Never heard of them before. Only problem i see with them is where they are cutting corners to make there profit. They are not using quality PSUs. There Game Series for example with that Raidmax case. They are using the PSU that comes with the case and Raidmax is one of the worste PSU providers around. That crappy 500W won't last long with the kind of load it will have to carrie. Same goes for that basic model they show. There are very few cases that come bundled with a good PSU in them. I'd go with a more well known and trusted provider. Better yet build it yourself.

buy something from the dell outlet with a coupon, or build your own. the folks in gen hardware are really good about helping choose parts for a build, even on a budget, as long as you follow the posting guidelines in one of the stickies

+1

You would be better off building your own desktop. Not only will you get what you want (often for about the same price or even less), but you'll appreciate what goes into a desktop and how to fix it if something fails or burns out. Instead of waiting for some idiot from an outsourced 3rd party to come and fix the problem, you can troubleshoot and often ask people how to go about fixing the problem. It will be cheaper than paying someone $40-50 an hour (if you do not have a warranty that covers at-home repairs).

In the end you'll be better off building your own desktop.
