It did not get a very high review from Gamespot, it was in the "good" range.
It's not a space simulator type multiplayer game, but more like a role playing game. Your weapons can shoot in every direction, and they don't miss, so basically, you fight according to equipment and level.
I beta'ed a good year ago, and I did not like it too much. I am sure a lot has changed by now, but I like space games that I can play with a joystick.
A lot of people swear by the beta of EVE, which is supposedly better. Some people also still play jumpgate, you can download the client and play for free for 10 days.
