ebay tacks on alot of shipping
check the hot deals forum
there is a deal on refurb 21" hitachi for like 180ish shipped Grade A
lots of people have had luck with them
Good luck!

if not great, how about just decent ? 😛 its sooo sweet of ebay to place that caveat emptor warning at the bottom of evey
page.

and if not ebay, where else ? i comb through the hot deals forum multiple times every day, and they have a few nice finds,
including the one you mentioned above. i've also seen a few steals at mwave, monitors direct,
thanks.

with monitors I would generally rather pay a few bucks more and check out the picture quality myself than save a little and risk getting a bad image. ESPECIALLY for an LCD.

Try to find a refurb shop somewhere...then you'll at least be able to go there and get a refund if it's defective right away.

I wouldn't. Bought one before and it turned out to be DOA. Guy tried to make me pay to ship it back before he'd refund my money.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got scammed by one. The company had about 4000 feedkbacks, and about only .5% (that's point 5) were negative feedbacks, but I still went for it. Made the mistake of paying by a visa check card. (not same protection as a visa).

The Monitor came in and it had a brown hue (A Sony). Turns out the monitor was a refurb RMA. Called them back about 20 times to get an RMA....never could get an english speaking person on the phone. Finally found a number for them using other means and called, and then they sent me an RMA replacment. Pay more to ship it back....but get the next one for free.

Next one arrives, same deal. brown-out damage. Same lame excuse. I sent the ah heck back my cost again, this time with a letter demanding refund. No return......Tried to cancel the Visa Check Card payment, but since it was check card....they wouldn't. So I got screwed. Since I shipped it back without an RMA, they demanded that I pay for return shipping until I recieve an RMA and then ship it back. I told them to shove it, and keep their monitor, and contacted Safe Harbour.....but in the end......I was out $300.

Moral of the story:
Unless it's new, or under warranyt from manufacturer, buy NEW.

If you like gambling then yes you can find some good deals with reputable sellers.

Otherwise if you want a quality monitor from a reputable merchant for a good price.

Buy a monitor from Dell using their $35 off $400, plus automatic 5% off sale (ends tonight) and I think they still have free shipping as well.

I've bought through Ebay several times now, but I wouldn't buy a monitor through the mail, not through Ebay, probably not from anyone. The probability of something going wrong is high with monitors. I'd rather buy locally and have the comfort of a return/exchange policy that doesn't cost me money to ship ($$$ on a monitor, BTW).

I got my monitor (NEC MultiSync FP950) from eBay. I haven't had any major problems with it. However, I did have to search quite a while before finding this particular monitor and finding a seller who was reputable. To be on the safe side, it's probably best to buy a monitor through a reputable dealer.

In short, there are probably lots of monitors at great prices, but at the greater risk of getting scammed or shorchanged.

Ebay does not "Tack on alot of shipping". Ebay has NOTHING to do with the shipping or the prices. That's all upto the seller.

I think he meant ebay in general versus buying from another place like dell.
