I don't know if it is a rumor or what,
Microsoft is releasing DX11 in August.
If this is true, all current card doesn't have hardware support.
Does it mean all cards will be a waste?
I am very wantting to buy the HD4870, after reading that "DX11 is coming in August news", this make me hesitate

Simple answer: NO

Complex answer: DX11 is not even in public beta yet. There is no way that Microsoft is releasing this as final by August. DX10 is not even mainstream yet in most games and on most systems.

(Most systems are still running XP. That is what developers are still aiming for.)

Don't expect DX11 for at least a year. Most likely it will go gold right before Win7 goes final in fall of 2009 or January of 2010. (Key people inside Microsoft are claiming both dates with fall 2009 being the most likely candidate if Microsoft want to make the holiday season.)

MS has said they'll include DX11 with Windows 7, it is just an improved version of DX10 with integrated GPU physics.

They're announcing DX11 this month. They're not releasing anything. I don't think they've even finalized the specs yet. Once they finalize the specs, the hardware that's in the design process will have to be adjusted to fit the final specs (the major graphics chip designers are all in the design committees, so they already know what the specs are approximately going to look like). Then the hardware has to go through testing, revisions, etc... THEN taped out. THEN tested again. THEN manufactured. THEN put on the boards. THEN distributed. THEN launched.

So yeah, it's NOT going to be next month. We'll be lucky if we even hear about the SPECS of a board that will support DX11 by the end of the year.
