Is DVI worth it?

Is a DVI hookup on a monitor worth the extra cost? I can get a Samsung 740N for 215, analog only, or a Samsung with DVI for 235, and id have to buy a DVI cable, making it 250. Is the pictue THAT much clearer, or will analog input be just fine. The LCd will be for gaming and web browsing primarily, sometimes used to type in Word.

On a 17" LCD, the difference between DVI & VGA is marginal if at all.

I'd still try to get one that had DVI, but honestly, i doubt you'll see much difference.

lets put it this way, one of my friends has 2 LCD monitors, but his laptop has only 1 DVI out and 1 VGA out, it's fairly obvious that they aren't run off of the same connection when you look at them side by side.

My suggestion would be to look elsewhere for cheaper DVI cable. I bought mine for about $8 w/tax at ConneXions. They're only about a 15 minute drive for me, so I just walked in and picked it up. If you live near a city, odds are someone local makes them or sells them at a reasonable price. I have yet to regret not paying $50+.

Edit: Just noticed you're only looking at a $15 cable, making my post mostly irrelevant.

Weird, of all companies. I've always been satisfied with their products...seems really odd that they would skimp on something like that. 🙁
