I was curious if it is safe to plug my DVI monitor in to my laptop while it is running. I know with a lot of devices (PS/2 for example) you shouldn't, since it can cause a short, but is it safe with DVI?

I don't know the correct answer but I can say that I have done it several times with no problems.

VGA is fine but DVI hotswapping is a no-no. Atleast that's what ive been told. Don't know more than that.

There shouldn't be any juice going to the laptop DVI port until you enable it, probably with a key sequence. It should be safe.
