Last night my system hosted a couple laser printers at an event. After getting it running, I switched off my Planar LCD, unplugged the DVI cable from the monitor, and set it out of harm's way for the rest of the event. The video card is a Radeon 7500, with one DVI-I and one VGA output.
At the end of the event, when I plugged the monitor into the DVI cable and switched it on, the display was bright shades of pink :Q I did the things you'd expect, but I kept getting either shades of pink or a nasty patterned effect.
After getting the system back to the office, I quickly tried again with both DVI and VGA cables (this Planar has both styles of inputs). With VGA, the monitor displays normally. With DVI, it continues to misbehave. Opinions? Did I damage the DVI portion of my Radeon 7500, the DVI portion of my monitor...? Right now I look like this --->
