At least an LCD above 17in.. YOu can get away with VGA @ 1280x1024... But I wouldn't run an LCD without DVI either...

Yeah if your going with a standard 19" then I would highly suggest the new version of the Viewsonic VP191B.

Its a 16.7 Million Color MVA 8 MS Panel
Probably the best standard 19" you can buy at the moment

But for the cash you would be better off picking up the 2005FPW. After reading Anands review and talking to the individuals who have one it sounds like the best bang for buck monitor out there. And yes there was a deal to get it that low, not sure if its still active or not. It was two coupons that stacked.
