It will work as long as the VGA portion of the DVI cable (the portion that's different from the main part) is only horizontal, not a cross shaped. If you check on a DVI plug, sometimes they have a horizontal line on the side (shaped like this: -- ), while other times it's a cross ( + ) . The 2005fpw accomodates all of the middle pins, but only the horizontal line on the left side, not the cross.

I just disconnected my 2005fpw and checked for ya ;) .

If you're still confused, I'll try to draw a diagram to make sure. The DVI connector looks like this (except 3 rows of pins instead of two, but you get the picture):

Example 1:

( -- ::::::::::: )

Example 2:

( + ::::::::::: )

You need to make sure the connector looks like example 1, not example 2 - the cross shape won't fit.

Cheers!

^ There ya go, much simpler. That's what I was talking about. DVI-D fits like a charm on the 2005FPW, DVI-I does not.

As long as it has a DVI-D connector on at least one end, it'll work. The wires inside it for the 2nd link will remain unused. (And should you migrate to a 2500x1600 display one day, you've already got the right cable :))
