Is dual channel possible with three dimm slots filled with ram?

I think you'll need a tri-channel motherboard for that.

I actually just found out if I have two sticks of 256 in the first two and then one stick of 512 in the last dimm slot it will work in dual channel mode. Thanks.

I think that only works if the 256's are single sided and the 512 is double sided but don't quote me on that.

By far the better way is to use 2 matched DIMMS anyway.

according to my asus

in order for dual channel to work occupy the modlues in the follwoing matter

1 and 3

2 and 3

1, 2 and 3

Thats very odd. Let me know if you get it working in that manner. Ive never heard of it operating that way.

All DC motherboards can do that, they just vary according to single-sided, double-sided and so on. As long as 1 and 3 are (preferably) paired with they same memory it should work fine.

Yep. I'm running in DC mode right now with all three DIMM slots of my Epox 8rda filled. One 256mb stick of Dane-Elec PC2700 in DIMM slot #1 + #3 and one 256mb stick of Crucial PC2700 in DIMM slot #2. Works great.

As I remembered. The dimms in bank 1 and 2 would still run in 128-bit mode. But the third dimm would be in 64-bit mode. Does that sound familiar to anyone?
