Is "Drug" a past tense of the word "Drag" ?

I have someone here convinced that the word "drug" is the past tense of the word "drag". I think he means "dragged", I took it to dictionary.com and searched for both drug and different tenses of drag and theres no relation between the two according to the site. But he keeps telling me "I know I'm right" but can't proove it. Just wondering if theres anyone that knows one way or another.

Dictionary.com says one thing, but the OED lists it as an acceptable version of dragged. Dragged is more commonly used, though. 😛

drug, v.1

To pull forcibly, to drag. (trans. and intr.)

I'm pretty sure it's dragged! Ask him if the past tense of "flag" is "flug". He's improperly normalizing the tense of this verb.. it's a common problem for young children just learning past tense.

Tell your friend he's a jackass and you're going to drug him something awful if he doesn't attend english classes. Let him interpret drug using any of those found on dictionary.com under the verb category. No matter what he choses, it won't be pleasant.
