Is Dragonshard any good?

I stumbled upon that one on Wikipedia pretty much by mistake (I was just checking things in relation to the D&D lore and world and so on, and eventually go to that page).

I've never heard of it back during its release year (2005) up until now, although the article specifies that the reception wasn't bad at all. I watched some developer commentary style videos on YouTube on what appears to be early builds of the game, perhaps prior to its release back then (not sure though), but what is shown (in those videos) is just sufficient to understand the game-play mechanics, it ain't quite enough substance to come up with a conclusion on my own, I really need to try it out, or to buy it I guess if I can find it that is.

Just out of curiosity, anyone here played it? How was/is it?

I played it most of the way through, then got bored. It's fun for a little bit, but frankly the Spellforce games were more fun, if you're looking for rpg/rts combo.

This game has FAIL written all over it. I played it and found nothing to like. On top of the fact that it's gfx and gameplay are badly outdated as of now, the game already sucked when it came out. Music was somewhat repetitive and not too good, and the campaign just wasn't fun. I'd recommend you to stay away, and if you want to play games from that point in time specifically there were plenty of other games that would be a lot more worth your time as opposed to this.
