Is DirecTV DSL any good?

I'm (as in my parents ) are currently paying $50 a month for my 640k DSL now, but I just saw some ads for Direct DSL, and I see that they are offering 1.5mbps for the same price. Does anyone else have this service? Are speeds really that good? They don't come out and say that its 1.5mbps, they just say in their FAQ that they "could be as fast as 1.5mbps," so I'm sorta iffy on its credibility.

We are a subscriber to DirecTV as well, so maybe we could save a bit more...

I guess you mean DirecTV DSL..

i use it here in oakland. With win98, I can get to 1.3 Mbps download, and less than 100 K upload.

I have been satisfied so far. There are several times when the network is down. Not sure whether I can increase the upload speed or not.
