Is DFI fully manual?

I've been hearing a lot about the options for overclocking a DFI board. I'm definitely going to be overclocking, but not right out of the box. I've also heard that all of the settings must be configured by the owner, and there is no "Auto" setting in the BIOS. I'm getting an NF4 Ultra-D, and was hoping that I would be able to just install and run everything at stock speeds for a couple of days, to check for stability and the like. Will I really have to configure everything manually? Or is there an auto function that will leave everything at stock speeds?

Its not bad at all.

I used it for my first build and everythng went together seamlessly. didn't have to tweak a thing. Corair VS worked great, too.

There are "auto" settings in the BIOS. I think it's one of the easiest boards to set up. Great for overclocking and lots of advanced features too.

w00t! Thanks guys...I've been checking DFI Street also, and some of the people there have written up excellent guides for overclocking and such.

Like you, I was wary at first too.
I'd assembled 4 Pentium computers before, but had never overclocked.

But reading a lot of the DFI Street stuff helped me, & now I'm very happy with my resulting DFI / AMD rig, with a nice overclock.

For starters, just follow the guides you can find there. There's at least one guide on step-by-step build, and there's another on step-by-step bios setting.

It's not as hard as you might anticipate. Just go slow & careful. You can start off with default settings as a baseline, then tweak from there.

You CAN access an amazing array of variables in the bios, but you don't HAVE to, you can go with a setting called "Optimized Defaults."
