Is Dell BSing me?

I was considering to buy the Dell 9300 laptop and was wondering if I could update the graphics card.

So I call Dell and ask the tech support, they then tell me that I could upgrade my graphics card later on, but then I read a post telling me I couldn't.

Which is true?

if it comes with 'integrated' graphics, then you probably cant upgrade later on. but if you get something such as a 6800go, then there is probably a good chance that you could

The Inspiron 9300 has a mobile PCI Express card slot, so you CAN upgrade the graphics in the future. I think that the best video "card" available for that model right now is a GeForce Go 6800, and there are no guarantees that new mobile video cards will be compatible.

i remember reading on some forums that someone has managed to mod his 9300 to use the 7800gtx for the dell xps.

You can easily upgrade from an x300 to a 6800 later on.

Here's all you need to know...

Also, here

Basically, you can upgrade to a 6800GO...it's a direct swap in. You can also upgrade to a 6800 Ultra go or a 7800GTX, but it's much more involved. To upgrade to those, you need to do some bios flashing, get the power brick from the XPS, the 9 Cell battery, and the northbridge heatsink from the XPS, but it's doable.
