Hello fellow ATers!
I read couple reviews that say "16 ms is ok, some tear and minimal ghosting, unless I am 1 ms fragger, I won't notice difference," etc.

So far the only fast fragging games I play(ed) were Counter-Strike, Counter-Strike: Source, and Quake 3 Arena.

So basically I just wanna make sure it is OK monitor for gaming before I hit that CHECKOUT button :)

Also, anyone know
1. how much it will cost to return for refund? 15%?
2. how long it will take them to ship to Houston (Mike Dell is from Texas, Texas-to-Texas shouldn't take long)?
3. how good is scaling? I will play less than 1280xsomething (more like 1024, lol) on full screen, because my current system, //AMD 3200+ (32 bit)/1gb DDR 400/6800GT AGP// won't pull off 1680x1050 native resolution...
4. It is S-IPS, right?

Big thanks for yalls answers!

the 2007WFP is an excellent display. you shouldn't be dissapointed with any of its characteristics. And are you sure that 6800GT won't do 1680x1050? are you running the newest drivers? and yes, it is most definitely S-IPS.

it will sure do 1680x1050. Sorry that I expressed myself unclearly, I meant that my 6800GT, with other components of my system, will not be able to run games at 1680x1050, with enjoyable frame rate.

I love it for gaming.

No ghosting or tearing and the picture is great. As hyper said, S-IPS.

Dell wont charge you any return fee, they'll even pay the shipping within 30 days.

This monitor scales fairly well, although I've only used it below native res a couple of times for some BF:V.

yeah i wouldn't be too worried about running things below native rez. i'm sure it will be able to handle most anything you throw at it.

I don't play FPSs, but it's fine with games. The response time is pretty solid overall. Shipping can vary, but when I got mine, I ordered on Friday and they shipped it on Saturday and it took until Tuesday to arrive, which is not bad at all. Their warehouses are all over the place, so it might not ship from Texas.

Scaling in general looks inferior in my eyes, so I've always played at native, even if it means turning down the details a bit. The 2007 supports 1:1, so you can black bar the screen to show a lower res instead of scaling.

It's not guaranteed to be S-IPS, but there's a very good chance. If you get the S-PVA, you can exchange it and hope to get the IPS. Many people can't tell the difference, so once you get it, you have the option to return for refund or replacement if you're not happy with the look.

1) The monitor is great for gaming
2) Run at 1680 x 1050 then lower all other settings like textures etc and slowly increase upwards my card is similar to yours and runs most games great at full res - Source runs at full with AA and AF except HDR

I am thinking about grabbing the 2007WFP right now myself...

Is there a differnece between it and the 2407WFP besides the size?
Will a 6600GT have any problems with this monitor in any ways?

Thanks

The colors will wash out when you change the angle of viewing from straight on to moving to the side. It's something that bothers some people and not others. There are other image tests that you can look at.

The other way is just to look at the Service Panel. I don't remember off the top of my head, but it's searchable.

A topic on [ H ] gave instructions on the service menu and what codes mean what type of panel

Mines IPS :) But it seems unfair to switch panels around like this

Agreed. Even though many/most people can't tell, I think they should put the two panels at different price points even if it means increasing the price of the IPS. Some people will pay for the IPS, and most will just get the PVA because it's fine for them.

Here is a video of my NEC LCD2090UXi running CS:Source. The panel is also a 16ms IPS so the performance will be the same as the Dell.

I use this monitor primarily for gaming and i dont have issues with it, althought i would advise caution when playing games as fast as Quake3 on this thing as it will limit you somewhat.

Cool video, although you got owned pretty quick there :)
Thanks for caution, I haven't opened Q3 box for two years now, CSS has definite monopoly in my FPS zone.

All: Thanks for the answers! Buying the puppy this evening!
