Is DDR that much better?

I have an Abit KT7A. Would using DDR memory make that much difference over SDRAM?

No, if you have a rig built don't worry about DDR.

If you are buying a whole new rig DDR is worth considering, especially when the nForce and/or Palimino are available since hardware prefetching makes better use of DDR bandwidth.

But for now, I wouldn't worry about it to much. Especially since your board is probably still good for a while yet, and won't work with DDR.

DDR won't give you a huge performance boots currently. Probably only when newer applications / processors are capable to take advantage of the extra bandwidth that it provide, then we would see noticiable gains. By that time probably faster DDRs would be avaliable like the PC2700 that's coming out soon, if I remember correctly.

If you are building a new system, then I would get a DDR mobo. It offers a slight performance boost plus the prices for DDR and PC133 memory are now the same (check out Crucial.com).

i like DDR...had a 1.2 w/pc133 from crucial. Upgraded to 1.333 w/epox 8k7a...w/256 DDR from crucial. I notice a difference.
