Is DDR on my system?

My Pavilion 3.06HT w/ 512 DDR has one 512mb PC2100 stick. Is this the dual channel DDR that would give me more performance? I have 128x2 PC3200 CL3 ram sitting here and I almost won't to use it if the two sticks will give me a boost.

Since you aren't using an 800mhz fsb processor, it most likely isn't. You probably have an 845 based motherboard which does not have dual channel ddr controllers. Stick the ram in anyways, you'll probably get a small boost from having another 256megs of ram anyways. There are a few apps and games that need more than 512megs.

Depends on the model # of your HP ... IIRC, they did put Dual-Channel support in their "High-End" models, which your P4 3.06 would qualify as. 🙂

Post a model number here so we can dig up the specs.

But anyhow, if I were you, I'd keep the RAM out. It's CL3, and whatever you've got in there is probably CL2.5. Performance gains would be negligable at best.

M4H -- Pavilion 884 Media Center PC. I know it used Intel 845 chipset...

This is the first non-OC'able PC I've had in years, and it is bugging me, but I had to accept it b/c it was free and my old rig was an OC'ed athlon that was much slower.

The mainboard is a ms-6577 I believe and the bios is so simple it is driving me crazy. I can't tell if I have 4x AGP or not.... my driver says "NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti4200 AGP8X"... my computer was advertised as 8x AGP.... yet detonator says 4x AGP, SiSoft says 4x AGP, etc.
