Is Cyberpowerpc even cheaper than DIY?

Normally I'd always be a supporter of building your own system, but I've been pricing out a new comp on Cyberpowerpc and they really do have cheap prices. Also normally I would say screw prebuilt since you get a couple decent things but the rest of the computer is shady equipment and unknown mobo. But with Cyberpowerpc it appears you get to choose pretty much everything. So I priced out my intended system (hopefully) on Newegg and on Cyberpowerpc.

Now unfortunately I can't remove some things from the prebuilt such as keyboard and mouse, so I left it as the cheap ones and added cheap ones to my Newegg cart. Using the rest as identical or as close to as possible, my Cyberpowerpc came to $489 and newegg to $488, but I still needed to add a CPU fan to that, so it was a little over CPC. THe only downside to CPC is the $65 s&h, compared to $20.50 @ Newegg. Still, I'm mighty impressed. Now I have to decide if I want to build it myself like I would always do, or just give the prebuilt a whirl.

id rather pay more money just to make it myself.

i hate factory builds, they use crappy parts and do a half A$$ job assembling and cabling it.

the only good thing about not DIY is the warranty which is usually
a BS hassle anyway if something goes wrong.

Barton 2500+ or 2600+, Abit NF7, 2x256mb pc3200 ddr ram, 80gb WD SE hdd, Radeon 9600P.

I configured out the above at both places. I fail to see how I would be getting crappy equipment from cyberpowerpc when its the exact same as what I'd get from newegg.

I agree, don't worry about that part.

Does upgrading the rig void your warranty though?

I'm not worried about any warranty. I downgraded it to the cheapest anyway. It just seems like a cheap way to get good parts. Still I'll have to pay a little more because of s&h, but it's assembled too so I don't have to.

So still, can anyone beat that price?

Sounds like a good deal, but you might be better off building, as sometimes the parts are there but the build quality, cables, and screws might leave something to be desired...

I've built everyone of my computer except for my first one... 11 years ago...

No, it's not cheaper...

I'm in Canada, and I just bought myself the following:

Barton 2500+
Abit NF7-S
2x256 3200 Kingston RAM
Antec SLK3700AMB (case + 350W P.S.)

Grand total, after 15% taxes = $565 CDN

If you're doing a similar system on the Cyberpowerpc website (with a no-name case and P.S., but an extra 80 GB HD), you're reaching US$486, which is already the equivalent of $637 CDN. If you add at least the lowest shipping charges (US$ 65!), and don't add any other taxes, you're WAY over the price of that extra HD. And the prices in the U.S. should definitely be lower than in Canada. So there... not a hot deal, sorry.

i PERSONALLY have bought a high end system from Cyberpowerinc and was able to pick out every single type of part that went into my system. So far I have had no issues with them as a vender. i got the 3 year onsite warranty and so far they have been golden on it. I have weird issues with my 9800 pro and they decided to replace it immediately when I told them the issues. ALSO their warranty company is nice, you call them tell them you have an issue and they call you back when they have someone ready rather than waiting on the phone and wasting valuable cell phone minutes (i dont have a land line). they get a 11/10 from me.

PS they even bundled all the wires in the system into one nice grouping that keeps everything clean!

Well, add in that 80gb WD SE and a 128mb 9600P from Newegg and you will definitely be higher than CPC.
