Is Crab Rangoon Chinese, Thai, or American?

hevnsnt

Lifer
Ok, so I can order Crab Rangoon at any local chinese restaurant. Today I found that they are available in all of the local Thai restaurants..

BUT

When I was in Europe, I ordered it at a chinese restaurant (even though it wasnt on the menu) and they looked at me like I was crazy.

So WTF man?

It's American but Chinese influenced (ie won tons). It's like asking where the California Roll came from. Of course it's an American Invention but it wouldn't have come about without the invention of sushi.

It always cracks me up when people bitch about food not being authentic ***insert country of origin*** food...even when the food kicks ass.

Erm, I'm supposing it "kicks ass" because it's been localised for Americans? 🙂

Been to so many Asian cities and I've never even heard of it... so I suppose I'll have to wait till I go over to the US.
