Is core duo and good in desktops?

How would a stock core duo be in a desktop @ 1.9 GHZ, can these chips be pushed hard?

Core Duo = Yonah, so it would be more like Core Duo @1.9ghz ~ = to X2 @ 1.9ghz.

They are getting close to 3ghz on air with the Aopen motherboard, but that board costs $300, I plan to get an Asus N4L-VM and see what I can get with it. Just remember, you need special motherboards for these chips, they won't work with Dothan/Banias boards, or socket 478 P4 boards.

Exactly....I have seen some benches with these things OC'd and they tend to be on average clock for clock equal with somethings they are better clcok for clock with AMD

Agreed. I have a feeling mobo prices will but a damper on Merom overclocking as well, unless that AOpen board comes down in price over time (doubt it).

Even still, a Yonah at 3 ghz is pretty damn sweet.

Well, its a little more complex than some people are making it out to be.

At stock FSB speeds with a 975/945 desktop board, a Yonah is actually a little slower or about equal to an X2 at the same clock speed.

Overclocked, the Yonah scales proportionally better. When you approach the 1000+Mhz FSB mark, the Yonah will probably exceed a stock X2 by a decent margin (lesser if the X2 is overclocked).
