umm, it depends where in coral gables. most of coral gables is upper-middle class, but there are some places that are pretty crappy. coral cables is close to cocowalk (coconut grove, "the grove") where you can find some good shopping and bars. but it doesn't really compete w/ south beach. coral gables is pretty far from the beach. depending on traffic, it could be anywhere from 15-45 minutes.

i wasn't really telling him to stay in the grove over staying in coral gables. i was just mentioning some things that an individual vacationing in coral gables might find nearby. all in all, i really wouldn't stay in coral gables. heck, i wouldn't even take a vacation to miami, but maybe that's just because i live there.Originally posted by: pulse8

There are bad parts of Coconut Grove, but there are no bad parts of Coral Gables.
The difference being that Coral Gables is its own city while Coconut Grove isn't. If you're in Coral Gables and you run into a bad part, you've probably either gone into Coconut Grove, South Miami or Little Havana.

Coconut Grove is funny. One minute you see partying, and the next you're in the middle of the ghetto. There's no slow transitition whatsoever, hehe.
