Is converting NTFS to FAT32 Safe with Partition Magic

Hi I have a NTFS format storage device that I want to covert to FAT32. I don't have any spare HD that I can move the Data to in the mean time. I wanted to know if the procedure is relative safe with Partiton Magic 8.0 in Windows XP.

Ofcourse I will still be at risk of loosing the data is things don't go well...but is that something that happens off or something that happens like if the electricity were to go out while converting? Also is some has a better recc'd program to do this that'll also be helpful. Thanks.

if your data is worthless/easy to replace then converting is completely safe. If I remember correctly Partition Magic highly recommends backing up data before using their software

Are you sure if it allows ntfs to fat32? No other software does. I would say it is not safe. These forums have had enough people posting nightmares with data loss from a failed PM procedure.

If you cannot find room on your system to back up your data, find a friend or pickup another external device.

nothings safe.
never do this with data that is not backed up.
it is russian roulette. the processes do fail sometimes and then everything can be gone.

I have done it back and forth a couple of times. Never had a problem. Today I would use Acronis Disk Director.

In any case - have your data backed up. I never worry about that because I always have a duplicate drive ready to go.
