In a way, it is.

When Sega ended its console dynasty, the video game industry suffers greatly from competition.

Just take a look at today's games, lack of content and creativity. There is nothing exceptional/original.

That has everything to do with the people buying the games. People want more of the same and that's what they are giving us. I could do without Modern Warfare 2 in favor of a whole new IP but people want more of the same. There's a reason why there's a buttload of sequels now-a-days.

When Sega ended its console "dynasty", the video game industry didn't suffer cus they stopped making consoles. They still made games and still made SOME great games. I'm a Sega fanboi but they just stopped innovating in the game development area.

Huh? In the 90s we had Nintendo and Sega. Yea, there wer e others, but who had a 3D0? Now we have Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft.

there was also CDI, Neo Geo, and Jaguar.

granted, all of those ended up not doing well enough to warrant continuing the build a new console.

but yea, i agree with you Deeko, that now gaming is by far bigger than it was in the 90s.

hell, console gaming catching up in technology to arcades is a huge reason that arcades died in america.

3DO was interesting. But I much prefer Neo Geo.

Neo Geo was the console of the rich boys with golden diapers. Look at the design of Playstation 3 Slim, does it remind you "copying"?

Last week I had a play around Nintendo Wii. The controllers were fascinating. However, it did not match the experience I had with Sega's arcade machines. It was not close to what Sega had done to the world of games.

Creativity is a bit lacking in modern games, but perfecting an already good game is never a bad thing. Modern Warfare 2 is an unbelievably good game, at least from the multiplayer side of things.

Batman: Arkham Asylum was absolutely fantastic, but yeah the sequels released this (and every) year is getting a bit embarrassing at this point.
