Does a Compenet video connection need a specail cable or does it just use 3 standard composit RCA cables? I know it's the same connection type, but does it need (or help to use) a special cable?

Component video (YPrPb) can be three "rca" cables (mostly is these days, I believe). RGB, RGBVH and varients can be on "rca" cables too, but can also be interfaced with a high-density 15 pin "D" connector (like for VGA).

Nothing special about the cables (75 ohm)..but they should be reasonable quality, with decent quality connectors, preferably soldered.

HTH, Good Luck
