So here is the deal they have:

buy 4 DVDs for $.49 (and 1.99 shipping) = 9.92
buy one at 14.95 now (same shipping) = 16.94
buy three more in 2 years for as low as 19.95 (same shipping) = 65.82

Total = 92.68 or 11.59 a DVD.

My question, what is the normal price for DVDs? it says as low as 19.95 and i have a feeling the only ones i'll get for that price are like mary poppins or bambi or something.

Is this worth it?

Thanks guys and gals. :)

Not worth the hassle. At All.

About the only thing columbia house is good for(or was anyway) was cheap freaking CD's. I don't know how many times I hopped on the buy four CD's get 15 for free deals. I must have done that deal 5 times or so.

You guys are mistaken. Columbia House is one of the best places to get DVDs, provided you have the proper information and time. Go over to DVDTalk.com and go to the DVD club forum. Everything you need to know about ordering from CH is there.

Its sort of like the Staples for DVDs. Normally, most of us wouldnt buy anything from staples, but after coupons and rebates, staples is a really good place for stuff. CH is the same way

Enjoy :)

Disregard the others that try to crap on CH. ;) I have bought hundreds of DVD's the last few years from CH using the codes from DVDTalk. If you want to build a solid collection, it's a smart way to do so.

I've done it too, no big deal. All you need is the dvdtalk thread -- they'll have the best deal analyzed down to the penny. To say those guys are dedicated is an understatement ;)

On the last mailing CH sent trying to get me to rejoin, the front of the envelope said something like "Impress your friends with your DVD collection". I thought that was kind of pathetic :p
