I'm changing my diet and was looking at what I needed to cut and not. Is there any reason at all to cut coffee?

If you use cream and sugar, or a sweetened creamer, yes it's bad for you.

Otherwise, as in all things in life: moderation is the key. Caffeine is addictive.

Personally, I only drink water.

Caffeine in general is one of the safest drugs in the world. Be a man and drink it black.

Coffee has five times the antioxidants of tea (iirc) but it also has more caffeine. So, it's not bad for you in moderate amounts. Adding sugar and creamer make it worse for you.

If you have irritable bowel, ulcers, acid reflux, etc. it's likely that you'll induce symptoms if you drink too much coffee, or anything with caffeine for that matter.

Other than that, no. I stick to no more than 4 espresso shots a day.

A cup of coffee with 3 sugars has 1/5 the sugar of a soda. Switch to decaf and you aren't doing yourself any harm afaik.

Coffee is VERY acidic. Even decaf can bring on severe heartburn/acid reflux in some folks.

Assuming you're not still growing and you don't have a heart/digestive condition, not really. Caffine withdrawls give me some pretty massive headaches, but then again, I used coffee in place of cigarettes in order to quit, so YMMV.

But while it may not exactly be a health drink, it has been shown to have a number of beneficial effects. It may reduce the risk of Type 2 Diabetes, Parkinson's disease, Gall Bladder disease, liver cancer, alcoholic cirrhosis, Alzheimer's, and who knows what else.

Just stay away from those Italian espressos... I still have a hole in my stomach from my stay in Italy earlier this summer :|

Shens. I started drinking coffee when I was 12-13, and I'm over six feet tall.

Little did you know you were supposed to be 7'2" and have a penis larger than a cocktail weenie.

Coffee is great for you. Any bad effects come from the cream you put in it. But milk is hardly that bad for you. Chances are coffee+cream is the least of your worries. It's addictive, but at least it's not that expensive. ;) I would have to drink 6 cups before it made me nervous.

I hit my head on things often enough at this height... and you swore you'd never tell anyone my shameful secret :(

Coffee causes your body to produce "cortisol" which causes your body to retain more fat. If you simply switch to tea from coffee, you'll supposedly lose 10 lbs in a year's time.

See my sig.
