I just switched back to Win2k and Cleartype was one of my favorite features in XP.

Anyone know if it is available for Windows 2000?

Thanks.

Win2k does have Font Smoothing, Display Control panel, Effects tab, check Enable Font Smoothing

Its not exactlly the same thing, but close.

Its not even anywhere near being close to ClearType in my experience. ClearType is a winXP only feature, unless there's a third party utility out there somewhere.

If you use Acrobat Reader go to 'preferences' - 'display' - click 'use CoolType' (that's what Adobe calls their ClearType!), you can select several different ClearType formats. Actually I'm not all that impressed with it. I've tried it on my LCDs and wound up turing it off. It makes the text that was razor sharp, kind of fuzzy... YMMV.

ARgh! I switched back to XP just for cleartype. It's easy on my eyes, hard on my privacy.
