Is city of heros any good?

Heya, im looking for a new MMORPG style game.. Played WoW, moved on, getting bored of Eve, debating City of Heroes (specifically, I would be a villain)


Anyone in a guild? (corporation? clan? whatever they call it in this game)


or anyone who wants to give me a few pointers, tips if the game sucks, if it rocks, whatever. 🙂


Ideally, maybe someone to teach me the basics in game, and let me know if im wasting my time 🙂

Do you mind sharing the link with the trial on it? I followed a link to a CoH trial but when I put my e-mail it said "This promotion is over" or something similar.

I got the trial at a circuit city I work at


its:

"City of Heroes Bootleg Edition" and has a 14 day free trial."

It rings up as $0.01 in our system, so I think we are just supposed to give it away free with a sale, but im sure you can just ask for one.

probably.

It's fun. It's a little "i chew bubble gum and beat people up"

but then again, after I let my account expire they ended up retooling the dynamics of the entire game. It might require more thought these days.

I believe if you have the CoH version, you can also download a patch to get CoV.

nope, still the same piece of garbage.
this game is extremely boring and even though mmorpgs are usually repetitive, this one takes the cake. all the enemies are exactly the same.

I had alot of fun playing this game...granted the first couple areas aren't a bit repetitive but once you really get into the game it's a blast. I tried the wow trial a few weeks back and it was fun but CoH was alot more fun IMO. I stopped playing over the summer because I don't play games much over the summer. I'm considering starting again but I hate paying a monthly fee for games.

well even after the 2-CD install, im downloading 1.7 gigs of patching.. 😛

anyone have an idea for a class/skill combo? I havent a clue whats going on as I skim their forums 😛


maybe a katana/super reflexes Scrapper?

ice/kinetic controller?


energy/?? blaster? not a clue.

I have an energy blaster I haven't played in quite some time. Fun game, but not very deep despite it being a MMO. Story is supposed to be really good though, I only got up to 29/30.

Side kicking is teh sh1t though. I was able to go on high end instances with buddies with this feature. REALLY makes the game that much more enjoyable for "casual" players such as myself. Where as in WoW, although I still play that, who knows when I'll be on to the high end instances.

You will probably spend more time creating your character than actually playing on your first day heh.
