Wasn't Chris Johnson still locked up for a couple years at slave wages? He was able to replace a couple years of a shitty deal with real money, whereas AP probably was still getting decent money for this year and would have been eligible for free agency next year. So Chris Johnson probably made out okay.

It's only 40M over the first 3 years of the deal... which is alot. But I imagine that with the deal heavily backloaded, Peterson probably won't see more than half the contract's lifetime before he's cut or restructured.
