Is cheating at a casino illegal?

You never hear about guys who cheat casinos out of tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars, and get caught, getting arrested for it. Will they actually put you in jail for doing so, or will the casinos simply rip your limbs off, and then let you go? In other words, is there a state or federal law against cheating in casinos?

Well that just says he was caught and let go. He was never arrested... does that mean he could be potentially arrested because it is actually a law, or what?

Just kidding, hope that answers it for you.

The mafia no longer controls the casinos folks. If you cheat and are caught, you will be arrested and most likely convicted (eye in the sky and all), and then spend time in jail.

From what I remember most Casinos who might suspect you are cheating can simply kick you out and tell you never to come back if they cant prove anything.

I'm just waiting for the time when there will be X-ray specs to see through that stack of cards 😀

MWHAHAHAHAHA

Ah-ha...thanks Viper (well, for pointing the link out to me, anyway 😉 ).

I'm not a gambler so I don't have firsthand knowledge, but there are notices in the paper around here(Detroit) about arrests for cheating.

If you get caught stealing a car and you have a clean record chances are you can make bail and be released. I wouldn't particularly look forward to being arrested for grand theft auto.

Heck, you might even have bail set for murder, just don't get caught with drugs.

Interesting. Hadn't seen that before. An online gambling friend of mine also does some land-based casino work. About 2 months ago he offered me a job hustling (land) casinos at the BJ tables. I asked him what the take was...he told me it was about 3K/hour/person on a consistent basis. Since I didnt want to be in trouble with the IRS 😉, I didnt take it...but I have it on word by a few mutual friends that however he was doing it (he wouldnt tell me specifics until I took the job), that he really was pulling in that much.

If by "cheating" you mean counting cards, I doubt you'll get thrown in jail. If you get caught with some device that manipulates slot machines, you'll probably have to return the money and do a year in jail.

I cheated at a Casino and made away with a good sum of money, never caught...of course I left the table, went out the nearest exit, and didn;t go back to that casino (on Main St., Las Vegas) for the rest of the trip...it was roulette, by the way, not a cheat of the game, but the taking of a bet that no one claimed, after it had hit a couple of times... 😀

WTF are you talking about? People get busted at casinos all the time, and the penalties are quite stiff. On the Travel channel, they always have shows about Las Vegas, and they always talk about the high tech security those casinos have to catch people who cheat. If it was only a couple of thugs beating you up, it might not even be so bad, but you're looking at a couple of years in jail if you get busted.

Counting cards in your head is not illegal. The casinos don't like it and if they think you are doing it, they will show you the door. They are a private business and they can refuse service to anyone for any reason. A device that manipulates things is illegal and they will have you arrested if caught.
