Is cell phone insurance worth the cost?

My friend told me he insures his phone which costs 2-3 bucks a month. I'm thinking about doing this when I get my new cell phone because i'm always fscking up my phones.

Anybody else do this? Worth it?
 
ya definetly worth it, i got it on my sanyo 8100, i cracked the LCD 3rd week having it, and then i got a new one!
 
well since I bought my phone from costco, I was protected by their membership benefits which is like built in insurance. Only thing that I didn't get was theft, obviously. Low and behold, 2 weeks later, my $250 Samsung A620/VGA1000 gets stolen... and I have to buy another one without any rebates.

On a happier note, the person that pickpocketed it from me found out he couldnt' use it anymore and gave it back, so I returned it to Costco and got my money back.

And yes, if it covers theft, $2-3 is more then worth it, if not then probably is still worth it. You know yourself best, how do you treat your cell phone?
 
Depends on the specific contract. Verizon offers protection for $3 or $4 a month with a $50 deductible.

I don't think it's worth it.

the insurance maybe worth it, since repurch is pretty damn expensive, unless you want to extend your 2 year contract by another 2 years, just to save $100...

on the side note: my att contract is up, and i dun wanna renew, but i want to get a new phone. only issue is that i'll have to pay like $75 or $125 extra to pick up a phone w/ out signing a contract.. almost makes me think that $175 to break the contract maybe worth it, if i find a good enough deal. (i'm looking at a T616 btw, and they are asking for $275 for non contract pricing.. 🙁
