is canned tuna safe for cats?

No, the mercury will kill them, just like it kills all of us

Not as a diet obviously, but I've no doubt that frequent ingestion of tuna will enhance a cat's pleasure by a far greater degree than any amount that the tuna will hurt them. I know that my cats would willingly lose a month off their life to lick the juice from my drained tuna.

Doesn't foods like tuna cause Male Cats to get a protien buildup in their urethra causing them not to be able to piss?

As long as they don't get their whiskers caught in the can opener.

^^ Ha ha 🙂

Tuna is alright for cats, but I wouldn't suggest feeding it to them all the time. However, you can buy "Petuna" which is tuna which has been processed especially for cats, so it doesn't have all the oil etc. in it.

As the website posted above says:
"but if tuna is fed nearly exclusively, it could pose significant problems."

Meaning, even if you fed it a little tuna every day, it's no problem, as long as it's not their main food source. The site also says nor more than 5-10% of their food source should be table food. My mom has given their cat a spoonfull of tuna every day for years, to mix up medication in.

i usually just feed the tuna water to my cat.
he really enjoys that.

what. the. fvck?

when you buy tuna in water, you drain the water.
the water tastes like tuna, the cat freaks out meowing like crazy; the cat drinks it; then bathes himself.
whats so odd about that

given it to my cats many times, they LOVE it. I don't think it is that dangerous as it's just fish and dolphin parts.
