One of my friend said Cable Internet is not secure cause you are same segment.
I didn't understand, what is the big deal about it.
You are not running Serives....
If you are running a Serices, Its no different then you are Cable,DSL, or cable
You always close 139/13 and NetBios close....
Can some body tell me, what he might be thinking ?

I have no clue what he's talking about, AFAIK it's just as (un)secure as anything else.

When you use DSL your computers are the only ones on your own Telephone line.

If your computer is directly connected to the Internet with No Router, No firewall, and Sharing is on, you would be ?caught? only if some one stumbled upon your IP.

When you use Cable Connection you are Not on your own line, you are sharing the connection with other people in the building or the neighborhood. If you are connected directly to the Modem and No Firewall, No Router, and Sharing On (in most cable installations) your segment neighbors would be able to share your Drive.

If you have Router it is Not a problem.
