Is cable internet access half duplex?

Someone remarked that cable internet access is only half duplex. Is that right? My performance on Cox cable internet gives me the impression that it's full duplex. I'm not talking about the 10/100 connection from the PC to the modem, I'm referring to the modem talking over the coax to the head-end (cable company central office/wire center). You *should* be able to run analog signals at full duplex on a 2-wire system (coax is 2-wire, so is phone line) just fine, but do cable modems really only run half duplex?

Those people are incorrect. The standard cable modem that a majority of services use is the DOCSIS compliant modem. If you do a web search on DOCSIS cable modem, you'll find plenty of descriptions of operation.
