Is CA Anti-Virus any good?

I normally use free anti-virus software like AVG. What are the benefits of paid anti virus software over non-paid? I used to use Norton but haven't used that in a while.

CA has a nice feature if you are on a domain in that you can push install it (as well as definition updates) to the client machines from the domain controller. However, in my experience that is the only good thing about it. When we were using it in my office it frequently let viruses through so that we ended up having to install a second anti-virus program just to clean up the mess. Now we use Avira (pro version) and even though each computer has to update their own definitions, I'm much happier since I don't have to spend several days each week just cleaning up viruses on the computers. 🙂

Short version, if you are going to buy a program, don't buy CA. If you are just looking for a better antivirus program, the free version of Avira is better than most of the commercial products...
