Heat is just the results of the trading... but the trading itself is for other reasons (they want to sell, buy, upgrade, trade, etc).

They're more likely to do that on ebay. People are much too savvy here. And besides, i believe there's a policy where dealers can't sell in the FS/FT forum.

Nothing wrong with that. We all buy from middle men anyway, whats one more? If you miss out on an insane deal, the resellers often still sell it for less then street.

Used computer parts on the other hand, are expected to command roughly $5 less then the retail price the original buyer paid, 3 years ago when he bought it.

I resell alot of the stuff I buy, Mainly because I upgrade again, and have no use for the part anymore.

Sorry, it just seems like there's a lot of people that whine around here lately that they're getting "screwed" when its really just the free market at work. So I kind of jumped the gun.

People have to have eleventy billion heat, because if you only have like 2 thousand, they think your a nigerian scammer from ebay. and they either wont buy stuff from you, or if you buy somethign from them, you have to send them cash payment first and they wait until they make sure your cash doesnt bounce (thinking you might have sent them monopoly money or something) and then 3 months later you'll get whatever you bought, and a neutral heat because your dollar bill was too crinkled that the pepsi machine wouldnt take it.

LOL...I agree with the sentiment. I don't have much heat because I just don't see much stuff, but its all positive. But its still like you're a thief until proven otherwise unless you have a ton, even though some people have been ripped off by people with high heat before.

I forgot the related rule, all buyers expect computer parts to command roughly 25% of their initial cost, even if the product was purchased last week and hasn't been opened.

I think some people are addicted to Heatware. Buying/selling just to build up their feedback!

Not I, every heat entry is just a legit transaction that I've completed.

This is a computer enthusiast message board, therefore it is full of people who needlessly upgrade their PCs every 3 weeks. Ergo, they often need to get rid of older parts. Ergo, they buy and sell a *lot* in FS/FT. Ergo, they have a lot of heat.

So, uh.. Klaatu Veratu Niktu - thus it is proven. :D

I'm not questioning the legitimacy of the transactions, just the motive :D Doesn't it feel GOOD to get positive feedback?
