Is buying a daily multi-vitamin like centrum a waste of money?

an average day consists of 2 bowls of cereal (cheerios, mini-wheats or corn flakes), 2 ham & cheese sandwhiches (or turkey), a banana, carrots and dinner varries each day...

I remember hearing that in some cases it increase your chances of getting cancer...on nnpr....

They said that the results weren't 100% conclusive but that taking them wasn't necessarily a good thing

its alright, a single multivite. the danger comes from mega dosing. multivites take into account what you probably get from your daily diet to make sure theres no chance of getting too much. its just a suppliment.

Personally, i'm a HUGE believer in multivitamins. For how cheap they are, i think they're a worthwhile investment.

You don't have to get a name brand... just compare the vitamins it covers...

Yeah you should. In fact about 95% of the people on the planet should be.
MVI are great for many reasons,.....

I'm a dietary tech,..... I do this stuff all day long.

I'd get that also, I used to take Centrum Performance every day for about a year but didn't really notice a difference since I stopped. So I'd say it was a waste of money IMO.

I should add that Centrum might just not be as good as others.

It is a solid hard pill, I almost wonder if a capsule type multivitamin would be better?

ONE-A-DAY used to give me stomach aches until I switched to Centrum. Try switching brands.

Honestly i dont notice a difference. Are we supposed to just swallow them or chew them?

I don't see a problem taking it. One a day is fine. If the body can't absorbed the vitamins, you just poop it out.

Multi-vitamins are okay. Stay away from the one's that give you 100% of your daily supply of heavy metals. In the modern age you don't need to take chromium, selenium, copper, etc. as you get enough through just about any diet. Men should avoid the iron supplements as well. Zinc is okay.
