Is BTX ever going to happen for AMD boards?

IMHO conroe is going to kill BTX, IIRC BTX was designed to cool the roasting prescotts more effectively but with intel moving toward lower power CPU's I don't see much use for BTX anytime soon.

probably not. btx still allows for a lower cost design.

i mean , if you could have a conroe AND btx, why wouldnt you?

its just like how gateway is making a btx amd machine. its still cheaper and it still in the end allows them to do stuff like, have a passively cooled video card, and a very quiet machine.

the problem with atx, is you NEED a side vent with a duct etc to force the air through. that and it does not have the tunnel style form that btx has, so you do not know exactly where the hot air is going. btx has a more straight through design for that.

not to mention the ducted sidepanel vent design of most newer cases, is a real big kludge not to mention one more hole for noise / dust to leak through.

i know as i have had those cases, and with a cpu fan right under that it is another source of noise that btx will not have (since their intake is the same as the front panel intake that all cases atx and btx have)
