Apparently today in the early morning hours in Great Britain, the British Air Force had to get a few few fighter jets and an areal refueling aircraft in to the air, to scramble and intercept a few Russian fighter jets that was entering Britsh Airspace. Furthermore, the area in which the Russian fighter jets would have entered into British Airspace, was also a special interest airspace zone. The British fighter jets were able to escort the Russian fighter jets away, before they even entered the British Airspace or the Special Interest airspace.

The British authorities claim that this is not the first time that Russian military jets have attempted to enter British Airspace and Airspace Areas of special interest. They also claim that in every incident, the Russian jets never make contact with any type of control tower. This forms an aireal threat to all those in the air.

The British authorities also talk about a time in November 2021, where a Russian bomber jet entered an Area of Special Interest, and had to be escorted out by British fighter jets.

And I'm sure vice versa. Ditto with China---USA, etc. Military forces are always testing each other.

No, the USA and other western countries don’t really engage in this activity. It’s pretty much just Russia and China that do it.

It is a classic method of an enemy probing your defenses.
They want to study how fast you respond. From where, and how much.
This knowledge will better prepare them to either counter or move around your defenses in the event they really want to hurt you.

these provocation flights are used to 1) test reaction times and detection range and 2) to get radar return signatures of the responding interceptor as well as their radar emissions to get a profile they can use for recognition later. there is a vid of a usaf pilot talking about how even our allies(France) sniff US em emissions during joint training exercises.

i'm sure buzzing the uk also helps keep them from deploying more troops/vehicles to help defend Ukraine, by creating a "threat" at home isles.

What is Special Interest airspace? How did Russia AF even able to get close to UK? From St. Pet then go through Baltic Sea and North Sea seen impossible. Over Norwegian Sea then come back south? That was still a long flight.

Not sure what you are saying here? That Russia aim to dominate the UK? How? It's a nuclear power, has a robust navy and airforce, and most importantly is part of NATO. Are they going to export them to death with adidas sweatpants?

Russia will not be coming after Britain militarily. To do so would be foolhardy and likely to ignite a furious European war.

Do you know what makes me chuckle sometimes over this Ukraine situation?

It's that for decades, a bold Soviet Union seemed to enjoy incredible success in turning British and U.S. intelligence assets and ordinary citizens against their own governments. Russia apparently penetrated a bevy of government agencies during this time.

Only to have western military and political experts stun the world by practically rolling NATO right up to Russia's front door which made it appear turnabout was fair play.

Yeah, it might be fair play. But I also knew that once the Russian Federation got over the coup against Mikhail Gorbachev, survived the drunken Boris Yeltsin and mourned the break-up of the Warsaw Pact, Moscow would re-group, re-arm and return to its goal of European domination.

I am just wondering why Putin hasn't yet sent his tanks crashing across Ukraine's border?
