Is Bob Saget a good stand up comic?

He's performing at a comedy club in town tonight, and my friend from college is visiting. She's torn between the comedy show and a mutual friend's "Friends"-watching party... I guess the deal maker or breaker is whether or not Bob Saget has talent as a stand-up comedian. Has anyone seen any of his shows? Feedback/review?

Update here

Hmm. Sounds like going to the "Friends"-watching party in Temple City might be a better plan. The commute is gonna suck, but there'll be lots of free food there. The comedy club entry is free, but there's a 2-drink minimum (drinks range from $3 for a bottled water to $8 for a mixed drink).

No. He sucks. It is just as annoying as watching him on AFVs exvept with cussing which he isn't very good at. That was 6 years ago though. Maybe he is better now.

When i saw him on tv I had visions of fullhouse in my head, and then he started cursing like crazy. That was hard to get over.

Bob Saget - After seasons of Full House and America's Funniest Home Videos, Bob Saget has managed to make nobody laugh, with the exception of the freakish alien race that apparently frequents these shows as the live studio audience. You would most certainly have to be on another planet to find his washed-out, clean-cut, always-smile-while-I-read-the-teleprompter style even remotely entertaining. I've heard rumors that his stand-up routines are "DARK" and perverted and don't resemble his television personality at all, but I find this fairly hard to believe. And, even if that were true, his crimes against the Gods of Humor are far too great to ever be forgiven.

Ouch! o_O

Don't listen to that review.

He even says that he's never seen his standup acts.

I have heard that he's OK. I say go, it would be an experience. You can sit around and watch TV anytime.

Bah. He's not worth missing Friends for. Friends is a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Rehashing Full House with vulgarity can be done another time.

Bwahahaha.

Friends blows, as does Saget.

Go rent Airplane if you want comedy.

it's called vcr/dvd-r/tivo/replaytv/bittorrent/or several other ways you can watch the series finale again. i've heard some of his standup before, and he's funny. (just in case you're wondering, i also liked the standup of george carlin, drew carey, roseanne, ellen degeneres, etc. so i don't think i have weird taste.) go out and have a good time, then come home and watch friends.

but in the future, owning a replaytv/tivo means never saying "i can't go to ____, i want to stay home and watch ____." ;-)

Yes. When he isn't constrained by being on network television, he is actaully pretty funny.

There is a reason he actually got somewhere.

I'm taping the show on my PC -and going to be watching it at the same time. It's not the same to see it later. I have quite the bond to that show for watching it for 10 years or so. I have to watch. :)

Yeah that article is way off. He's really filthy :p

I didn't find him that funny (have seen him on premium channels), but he seems to be a genuinely good guy with a dirty mouth. So don't go in expecting Full House...

Playing in the street blindfolded would be a better choice then seeing Saget or Friends

i heard he's tells very dirty jokes and sleeps around alot. It surprises me thinking about the full house dad doing that kind of stuff. then again, this is from the same source that says drew carey sleeps with hookers alot. I cant confirm either one of those rumors.
